Bailey Maupin is headed to the pros — and she’s making history along the way.
The former Gruver LadyHound has signed a training camp contract with the Golden State Valkyries, becoming the first Texas Panhandle native ever signed by a WNBA team. It’s a milestone moment for the region and a testament to a career built on relentless work from the Texas Panhandle all the way to the national stage.
Maupin starred at Gruver High School, leading the LadyHounds to back-to-back Texas 2A state championships in 2020 and 2022 before taking her game to Texas Tech.
With the Lady Raiders, she developed into one of the Big 12’s best guards. This past season she averaged 15.2 points per game, knocked down 69 three-pointers, and earned All-Big 12 First Team honors along with an All-American Honorable Mention from the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. She also helped Texas Tech knock off Villanova 57-52 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament — the program’s first tournament win since 2005.
Now she gets her shot at the next level with the Valkyries.
“We’re so excited to add Bailey to our training camp roster,” said Golden State GM Ohemaa Nyanin.
